Function Description   Technical Characteristics

The primary Distribution Unit, Model FE-798A, and Secondary Distribution Unit, Model FE-799A, have been designed for the low-noise distribution of reference signals where reliability is of paramount importance. Systems are available for distribution of frequencies from 1KHz to 100 MHz. Low noise synthesizer modules generate any desired output frequency from the reference input. With solid-state modular construction, these systems offer outstanding performance and versatility, along with ease of maintenance.

The system is redundant and expandable and consists of rack mountable carriers with plug-in modules that enable the rapid implementation of a wide variety of system configurations. Outstanding performance capabilities include...

• Low phase jitter signal distribution with spurious signals 120 db below the carrier.
• As many as 56 outputs with 95 db of isolation in a single chassis.
• Modular construction allowing module replacement without disturbing system operation.
• Redundant signal distribution with automatic switchover to standby modules.
• Self testing capability with module fault indicators and summary alarm outputs.
• Qualification tested to meet rigorous military requirements for temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration.
• EMC design to meet MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-462.

The primary and Secondary Units can be interconnected to provide an all-purpose distribution system or the units can be operated individually to meet less complex mission requirements. The module carriers used in the Primary and Secondary Distribution Units have been carefully designed to insure the interference free distribution of rf signals for any combination of modules that may be utilized.

Each module is of machined construction to provide electrical performance which is totally insensitive to environmental variations. Low noise, wideband circuit designs in conjunction with advanced component encapsulation techniques ensures that vibration induced phase modulations are virtually non-existent. Ê
